The opening round of the 2014 Rally America National Championship is just weeks away at the perennial winter Sno*Drift Rally on January 24-25th in Atlanta. Mich. But the off-season is still in full effect with teams finalizing their driver lineup and gearing up Sno*Drift's icy conditions.

Rally America was expecting 2013 runner-ups Ken Block and Alex Gelsomino to once again contest the 2014 season, but a new wrinkle appeared in Hoonigan Racing's plans.

“Most likely I’ll race in three of the eight races this year with my Ford Fiesta HFHV. As for my full 2014 schedule, we’re in the process of finalizing it and I’m looking to announce it, as well as debut my all-new 2014 livery, sometime in mid to late February.”

Block explained why he is unable to contest all eight events in the 2014 Rally America Championship.

“While I really enjoyed being able to race the entire championship in 2013 and battle for the title, this year my schedule is busier," Block said. "I’ve got a handful of events that I need to participate in due to sponsor requirements that conflict with Rally America rounds.”

Rally America will certainly miss this powerful team's entry to once again battle for a national title, especially after Block pushed eventual 2013 Rally America National Champions, David Higgins and Craig Drew of the Subaru rally Team USA, to a dramatic close finish at the Lake Superior Performance Rally.
