Waste Management Winter Rally: come watch the snow fly!

The Hills Winter Rally in Lithuania draws more than
50,000 spectators. Although the WMWR doesn't
anticipate those big crowds, it is the first year it will
be a spectator event.  Photo credit/hallswinterrally.lt
This year the organizers have reached an agreement with Waste Management, the property owners, so that the rally will be able to accommodate spectators at this year's Waste Management Winter Rally.

Spectators should enter the gate, which will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, located at 782 Antrim Rd. in Wellsboro, Pa. (map coordinates N41.644/W77.275) (directions from Wellsboro/Mapquest or see map below).

The viewing area is close to the action and spectators will see the cars pass twice per stage. There is an entrance fee of $5 per person. No alcoholic beverages or fires are allowed. The parking area will be close enough that people may easily return to their vehicle. There are no amenities (no public restrooms).

"This event is planned for the regional teams, and for training of new rally staff. It is also basically for fun too. Spectators will be able to see the cars twice per stage, and there are five stages," event chair Meridith Croucher posted on the STPR Facebook Page. "Proceeds from spectating will go to keeping this event alive while it gains support from the team base...Dress warm, and there are no amenities such as bathrooms. Your ticket will allow you to come and go as desired/needed."

According to weather.com the 10-day forecast calls for temperatures in the 20s and snow through Monday (1-2" tomorrow) in the Wellsboro area. Tuesday it will be in the high teens and sunny; Wednesday - Friday will be just about freezing with 30% chance of snow. But Saturday calls for partly-cloudy skies with a light wind and a daytime high of 28 degrees.
